As a professional beauty and fashion futurologist, Mirror Mirror’s Jeanine Recckio always has her eye on the trends.
At her Via de Mario boutique, 326 Peruvian Ave., Recckio’s gotten in a large stock of what she’s calling “PLYthon” handbags.
For those of you who remember “pleather,” it’s kind of the same concept, just updated for the next 15 minutes or so.
The PLYthons look like the dyed snakeskin bags that are all the rage right now, but, as they are made of textured vinyl, aren”t quite as pricey as the real thing, which cost upwards of a $1,000 for clutch, $3,000 or more for a full-size satchel.
“They are obviously more animal friendly, too,” said Recckio, who also thinks women will appreciate their lighter-than-real-python-skin weight
Her PLYthon clutches are a mere $75, with larger totes priced at $150.
The larger bags she refers to as “grande dame†beach bags.
“They’re sort of like Ivana Trump goes to the beach,” Recckio said.
“A good giggle bag that’s just a little decadent and budget friendly.”
If you’re not in town and can’t just stop by Mirror Mirror at a moment’s notice, you can always phone Recckio at (561) 655-1045 or e-mail her: jeanine@mirrormirrorinc. com.

All of our beautiful Kurtas are designed by Jeanine Recckio.
Inspired by Palm Beach and handcrafted in India from the
villages around Lucknow, central India a famous area which provided
the Moghul royalty with their court clothing and also their typical traditional
day to day wear in the hot summer season. “Chikan” work is a form of
“whitework” involving open holes overlaid with hand embroidery – to allow
air vents for cooling – yet keeping a beautiful look. They are usually done
with a white on white hand-embroidery. Their stitching techniques include
appliqué pulled and drawn-thread work and embroidery. Oftentimes small
bits of sewn-on mica; pearls; semi-precious stones etc. were added -
depending on the status of the wearer. The handwork involved in their
making was oriented to the royalty etc. With that group no longer around
this art form is in danger of disappearing due to machines – particularly
those embroideries coming from China.
Only $135 each!
This art form is spectacular value for the amount and care of the handwork
involved! Our Kurtas are available in sizes s- xl in all colors & lengths
they are true treasures and I enjoy designing them for you! Enjoy !

Boo! … Halloween is fast approaching … and I can’t wait to celebrate at tomorrow’s big Halloween Kiddie Parade on Worth Avenue … Mirror Mirror has donated fabulous auction gifts for this very special annual event … What can I say … I always liked treats better than the tricks!
More details about the parade:
Witches, wizards, ghosts and goblins are billed as the guests of honor Oct. 27, when Worth Avenue landlord Burt Handelsman will throw his annual Halloween Costume Contest.
In its 21st year, the free event turns the scenic Gucci Courtyard into a daylight den of fright and fun. Hundreds of participants dare to be scary, vying for prizes donated by Worth Avenue merchants.
Registration will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the courtyard entrance. The contest will begin at 11:30 a.m., with judging in three categories: infants to age 2, ages 3 to 6 and ages 7 to 10.
Sherry Frankel, president of the Worth Avenue Association, event chairwoman, praised Handelsman for picking up the tab so many area children can play dress-up.
Where else can ghosts and goblins mix with their own kind, “in broad daylight and with the blessing of the Palm Beach Police Department?” quipped Frankel, who calls herself “Scary Sherry, Witchtress of Ceremonies.”
Lily Capehart, known as “The Lizard Whisperer” for her appearances on television with David Letterman and Ellen DeGeneres, will make a special appearance, Frankel said.
Merchants who have donated prizes include Neiman Marcus, Chanel, Ta-boó, Wachovia Bank, Amici Ristorante, Mackenzie-Childs, Ralph Lauren, Gucci Palm Beach, Sherry Frankel’s Melangerie, Eye of the Needle, Victor’s Cafe, Bonpoint, Margaritaville, Vivi’s, Grande Armee, Okra, Tourneau, Commerce Bank, Mirror Mirror, Sunset Pilates, Kassatly’s, Marley’s Palm Beach Collection, Erwin Pearl, Saks Fifth Avenue, Eclectica, St. John and Juicy Couture.
Prizes will be awarded in each age category for various criteria: funniest, scariest and most creative.
Judges this year will include Nancy Mizelle, of Commerce Bank; Gucci Courtyard resident Richard Halpern; Palm Beach Daily News Editor Pat Thomas; Tara Zigler, manager of Juicy Couture, and retailer Barbara Katz.
Handelsman conceived the event to make the Avenue more approachable.
With its reputation as a sophisticated shopping venue, the district’s mystique can be intimidating, “but this shows we’re just real people,” Frankel said.
For more information, call Sherry Frankel’s Melangerie at 655-1996.

Whenever I’m in New York I love to check out the hip new restaurants … so I grabbed some friends and hit Employees Only in the West Village for dinner … They have a fortune teller in the window (I’m much better ha ha!) … and the whole place has a rough-around-the-edges speakeasy vibe. We set up a table in the back garden … feasting & drinking for hours until making our way to a hot little dance club nearby to burn off those calories. The restaurant was a bit hit or miss … but if you love that edgy hipster scene and old-school cocktails … Employees Only is right up your alley.

I love having a job that allows – actually, demands – me to travel. My latest trendspotting adventure took place in Hamburg, Germany … where I had the pleasure to stay at the uber-hip East Hotel … loved the fun décor & comfy rooms! … I also visited the SIDE Hotel (five-star luxury all the way) … and its amazing FUSION restaurant, which had a great selection of Asian-inspired dishes.
But of course no trip to Hamburg would be complete without a stop at the Nivea Haus spa … pure bliss. Between the massages, manicures, hair, makeup, and skincare treatments … I didn’t want to leave! Next time I’ll be sure to book a longer trip so I can spend more time getting beautified. Now that’s what I call a vacation.

The Mirror Mirror Palm Beach office has been a whirlwind of activity … I’ve barely had time to think! … We’ve been burning the midnight oil on several exciting new beauty projects … including a fabulous trend tour in New York City!
Jimmy Choo … Christian Louboutin … Tory Burch … Catherine Malandrino … we hit all of the hottest fashion spots. The weather was perfect, the hot new trends were in full force, and we even caught a glimpse of the filming for the “Sex and the City†movie! I also spied Dr. N.V. Perricone while lunching at the ultra-swanky King Cole Bar at the St. Regis Hotel.
Between cocktails at the Waverly Inn … manicures at the Kenneth Salon at the Waldorf-Astoria (where Angelina Jolie had just come in to get her nails done!) … breakfast at the luxe new London Hotel … my hair appointment at John Sahag … lunch at Saint Ambroeus … and a quick … there was so much to see and do & I’m still trying to recover from it all!
