{"id":236,"date":"2009-03-01T15:20:55","date_gmt":"2009-03-01T20:20:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mirrormirrorinc.com\/blog\/?p=236"},"modified":"2011-06-24T15:10:31","modified_gmt":"2011-06-24T20:10:31","slug":"the-palm-beach-kurta-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mirrormirrorinc.com\/blog\/beauty-trend-forecasting\/the-palm-beach-kurta-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"The Palm Beach Kurta Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All of our beautiful Kurtas are designed by Jeanine Recckio.<br \/>\nInspired by Palm Beach and handcrafted in India from the<br \/>\nvillages around Lucknow, central India a famous area which provided<br \/>\nthe Moghul royalty with their court clothing and also their typical traditional<br \/>\nday to day wear in the hot summer season. &#8220;Chikan&#8221; work is a form of<br \/>\n&#8220;whitework&#8221; involving open holes overlaid with hand embroidery &#8211; to allow<br \/>\nair vents for cooling &#8211; yet keeping a beautiful look. They are usually done<br \/>\nwith a white on white hand-embroidery. Their stitching techniques include<br \/>\nappliqu?pulled and drawn-thread work and embroidery. Oftentimes small<br \/>\nbits of sewn-on mica; pearls; semi-precious stones etc. were added &#8211;<br \/>\ndepending on the status of the wearer. The handwork involved in their<br \/>\nmaking was oriented to the royalty etc. With that group no longer around<br \/>\nthis art form is in danger of disappearing due to machines &#8211; particularly<br \/>\nthose embroideries coming from China.<\/p>\n<p>Only $135 each!<\/p>\n<p>This art form is spectacular value for the amount and care of the handwork<br \/>\ninvolved!
